Millthorpe is a beautiful little country village, drenched with history. The area was first settled as early as 1823 when a Government Stock Station was established. The township was established in 1834 on part of a Grant made to Charles Booth. The town was originally named "Spring Grove" and name was changed in 1884 to reflect the importance of the Flour Mill that was established in 1882. Millthorpe means village of the Mill. Much of the past has been preserved in the local buildings, beautiful cobbled bluestone-bordered streets and sensational vineyards and has a beautiful feel all year round.
